MedEx Day 29 - June 24, 2022

To begin today, Tier IV participated in "EMT Day." EMT Day consisted of multiple stations where we learned practical skills that the USCSOMG students learn during their EMT module/ that they must practice when serving as an EMT. Skills included how to put an arm in a sling, how to splint a leg, CPR, and more. I really enjoyed getting to practice these exercises.

To conclude the day, Tier IV became a "mock admissions" committee. We had to decide amongst the 19 applicants who would be admitted and then we got to see how the actual admissions committee voted. Through this process, we got to see how admissions committees look at applicants holistically, and we got to see that no applicant is perfect. Everyone has a weaker point in their application, but successful applicants demonstrate their love of medicine, their competency, and tell a story.
