Today was the start of the third week of MedEx. To start the day, we had a lecture from the M2 students regarding time management. All of the M2 students discussed how much medical school can be. They also detailed how it takes time to learn how to best study for each of the modules during medical school. Medical school provides a lot of information which must be digested quickly; however, that does not mean that one can no longer have a life while in medical school (even though sacrifices must be made). I greatly enjoyed hearing all the advice provided by the M2s and feel that I learned a lot from them.

Afterwards, an M2, Erica Schumann, gave a presentation regarding finding your "why" for medical school. Your "why" is comprised of four different components - one's experiences, relationships, traits, and values. Erica led us in a workshop which aided us in understanding how to think about each of these components/ writing them out. I felt that my personal statement clearly communicates my "why," which was a huge relief.

Later in the day, Mr. Al Squire came to speak to us about common mistakes which people make when writing the personal statement. This was extremely helpful as I am working through draft #7 of my personal statement/ I can ensure that I have no major issues. To conclude the day, the M2 students led us in a survey lecture regarding anatomy and physiology of the upper and lower body (picture above from lecture). This was done in a medical school format to give us more of a feel of what medical school will be like/ how much information will be taught in two hours. Finally, we had two hours to work on our healthcare insurance projects.
