Today we had a half day which was well spent in the Clemson CVT Training Lab on the Patewood Hospital Campus. The four gentlemen in my group, Tim, Hampton, Lucas, and I, took turns between scanning, being the patient, and watching. Our group started by hearing a presentation about Clemson's program and then we got to the hands-on stuff. First, our group got to do carotid scans (what the picture shows). During the scans the college students guided us through trying to look at different arteries and veins/ how to tell the difference between the two on a scan. The second scan was one where we scanned each others legs with ultrasound technology, once again, to check for blockages in the blood flow. Thankfully we all had good flow! Lastly, we performed an EKG on Hampton, and we got to examine his heart. Once again, another fantastic day of learning!
